School is officially back in session. It was great to see all the familiar faces and welcome some new ones. Everyone is going to settle in nicely.
There are some exciting changes this year. To start, students were able to dine in the newly remodeled cafeteria and enjoy the comfort of brand new tables and chairs, thanks to the efforts of Mandy Gee and the PTO.
Terry Smithhart joins us as the new Athletic Director. Coach Smithhart has come full circle. He started his career at SIA and comes back to us with 40 years of leadership and coaching experience. He lives in Rolling Fork with his wife Lisa. Welcome back Coach Smithhart!
We would also like to welcome our new coach/PE/history teacher Matt Homan. Coach Homan is a former Marine Sergeant and is an active member of the Mississippi National Guard. He was deployed to the Middle East where he served in Kuwait, Egypt, and Syria. He joins us along with his son, Cooper, who is in the 6th grade. Thank you for your service Coach Homan and welcome to SIA.
The elementary school has some exciting changes too. We have added music and Spanish classes to the curriculum. Mary Stewart, who serves as pastor of Rolling Fork United Methodist Church, has offered our students this exciting opportunity. Thanks for your time and generosity Rev. Stewart!
Ms. Morgan Webb joins us as the new Pre-K3 teacher and PeeWee cheer coach. Morgan is a 2017 graduate of SIA and a cheerful addition to the SIA family.
Just a few reminders:
Supply fees for grades K3-6th are $80.
Grades 7-12 technology fee is $30 and science fee is $30. Students in 10th grade have an additional $30 art fee.
Lunch balances from last year have rolled over to this year. Many students are starting the year with credits from last year. There are also a number of outstanding balances. Please be sure to check your child's Gradelink account to get the latest balance. If you need assistance logging in, please contact the office. Checks for school fees should be paid separately from lunch charges.
We are looking forward to an exciting year!
