Teacher Spotlight: Lisa Bridges

Currently Teaching:

7th and 8th grade Science, 9th grade Mississippi History/Civics, 11th grade American History, 11th grade Career Education and is the yearbook sponsor.


Tell us a little bit about yourself, your background, your interests, etc.

I am a 1978 graduate of Sharkey Issaquena Academy (SIA) and a 1981 graduate of Mississippi State University. This is my 5th year teaching at SIA. I've been married to Charley Bridges for 26 years. We have a 23 year old son, Matthew, who is a 2014 SIA graduate and is now a 2nd year medical student at UMMC.


Do you have a favorite book? How about a favorite movie?

My favorite books are The Secret Garden and Little Women. It's hard to decide--I love to read!


If you could wake up in the morning and start a new adventure, what would it be?

Writing a family history.


What is your favorite thing about teaching?

Seeing kids I've know since they were babies growing up, graduating, and reaching their full potential.


When you're not working, how do you spend your time?

Reading, quilting, genealogy, being a wife and mom! Texting with my son at 3 a.m.


What might we be surprised to know about you?

I'm ambidextrous!
