Ryan Anderson, a 2011 graduate of SIA, spoke to the 11th and 12th grade Career Education classes on Monday about his path to earning a master's degree in mechanical engineering. Ryan earned his bachelor's degree from Mississippi State University and continued his master's studies at the University of Alabama in Huntsville. Upon the completion of his degree, he was employed as the materials engineer at ASRC Federal Astronautics in Huntsville, AL where some of his responsibilities included the operating of metal 3D printers and testing/processing 3D printed metal alloys for aerospace applications. The students were able to observe a plastic 3D printer in operation and examples of metal 3D printed rocket parts.
