Who influenced you most during your time at SIA? How?
My sisters and my parents. They always encouraged me to put my best foot forward and work hard to get to where I am today.
What is the most important thing you learned while you were at SIA?
I learned that success does not happen accidentally. I learned that you must have faith and trust that God has a plan for you. I also learned that does not mean sit around and wait for something big to happen. You have to remain dedicated to your goals in order for you to achieve them.
What advice do you have for current students who want to make the most out of their experience at SIA?
Cherish the friendships you’ve been fortunate enough to have and never give up on a career that you know you can accelerate in.
Describe your career path.
I graduated from The University of Mississippi with a Bachelor of Science in Nutrition and Dietetics. I then passed the Registration Examination for Dietetic Technicians and worked at Oxford Health and Rehabilitation Center as a Dietary Manager. I now work in the Diet Office at John Peter Smith Health Network in Fort Worth, TX.
What is your greatest professional accomplishment?
I have a B.S. in Nutrition and Dietetics, I passed the DTR exam, and I am ServSafe certified. I have a job with people that I enjoy being around and you really can’t put a price on that. Seeking joy in my everyday work environment, to me, is my greatest professional accomplishment.
What advice would you give current students or recent graduates interested in pursuing a career in your professional field?
Think about the outcome of your hard work and never give up.
Tell us something about your family/spouse/kids.
I am married to Chad Fillmore. He is from Fort Worth, TX and he is an accountant. We met at Ole Miss and we have an adorable dog named Walter.
