Reopening Plans for School Year 2021-22
Sharkey Issaquena Academy will reopen under as normal circumstances as possible.
Masks are mandatory until further notice.
SIA will continue to check temperatures at drop-off or in the classroom. 100-degree fever or more, students will be sent home.
Hand sanitizers and disinfectants will be available in each classroom and in the hallways. We ask parents to supply hand sanitizers and disinfectants for their child’s classroom.
Water fountains will be off-limits. Water and cups will be available for JH and HS students at the end of the hall. Water for elementary students will be available in the classrooms. We ask parents to bring a case of water for their child’s classroom.
SIA will make every reasonable effort to maintain 3 feet of distance between students in the classrooms.
Any student or faculty/staff member who tests POSITIVE for COVID will isolate for 10 days. A negative test is not required for return to school after the isolation period is up.
If a parent, guardian, or others in a household test positive for COVID, the student (s) must quarantine for 5 days. A test must be taken, and with a negative result, that student may return to school on the sixth day. If a test is not administered, the student (s) must quarantine for ten days.
Those students or faculty/staff in close contact with a POSITIVE person at school will not quarantine as long as masking and social distancing are being practiced.
If a student shows symptoms during the day, that student will be removed from the classroom and sent home. The other students will be removed from that classroom, and the classroom will be thoroughly cleaned and sanitized. All parents in that grade will be notified.
Even with a negative rapid test, a student with symptoms must have a negative send-off (2-3 day) test to return to school.
If a student or faculty/staff member is fully vaccinated (proof), no isolation will be required.
Monitor your child’s temperature – 100 degrees or more, keep home
Child must be fever free 24 hours with no medication to return to SIA.
Please be vigilant in keeping your child home when sick. This will help the most in keeping COVID out of SIA.
PLEASE BE ASSURED THAT WE WILL CONTINUE TO DO EVERYTHING POSSIBLE TO KEEP YOUR CHILD SAFE AND WELL.
